White Gallery - Osík

The White Gallery is a striking minimalist building set amid greenery on the outskirts of the village of Osík, near Litomyšl. This modern white structure, completed in 2010, was designed by architects Jiří Krejčík and Martin Janda of the ARN studio. Its simple geometric form, flat roof, clean lines, and large glass surfaces create a contrast with the surrounding rural landscape.

The architecture is based on the “house-within-a-house” principle—a specially designed storage facility is located in the center of the building, with an exhibition gallery encircling it. The building employs a minimalist aesthetic inspired by 20th-century modernist architecture, particularly the work of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe.

For film shoots, the contrast between modern architecture and the natural environment is particularly appealing. The building stands in a picturesque spot by a meandering stream, surrounded by mature vegetation, a meadow, and a garden. The complex also includes the original farmhouse and the Janda family’s studio, offering another visually distinct setting in the immediate vicinity of the gallery.

White Gallery can be an interesting location for contemporary drama, films about the art world, architecture, or design, commercials, fashion shoots, or photography. Thanks to its striking white façade and clean architectural style, it can serve as a standalone modern structure in the heart of the Czech countryside.
